YOUR STAY

Getting into the rhythm of the island

Your stay at Kalliokumpu is more than just an overnight stay.
It is time spent on an island. Time spent in tune with nature. Time for peace, space and genuine encounters – with the landscape, with others, with yourself.
Here you will find everything you need to know about your stay in the Finnish archipelago.

What you can expect from us

Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge is not a traditional hotel.

We are a consciously designed retreat in the Finnish archipelago – small, personal and nestled in the nature of an island. Your stay will be characterised by tranquillity, Nordic landscapes, authentic Finnish saunas, good food and carefully curated experiences.

  • Boutique glamping on an island in the Finnish archipelago.

  • Authentic Finnish sauna & natural wellness

  • Archipelago cuisine from the forest, sea & season

  • Personally run, deliberately small, with time for genuine encounters

  • Sustainable, slow-paced and close to nature

You don't just arrive at a place – you enter a different rhythm of life.

Who is Kalliokumpu ideal for?

Kalliokumpu is the right place for you if you find yourself thinking any of the following:

  • You are looking for peace, nature and quality instead of entertainment and crowds

  • You value personal contact and small, special places

  • You travel consciously – alone, as a couple or in a small group

  • You want to experience Finland authentically, not consume it

  • For you, luxury means discovering the essentials – time, silence, nature

  • Sustainability is important to you, but without sacrificing style, comfort and enjoyment

It is not a place for rushing.

But a place for arriving.

Staying overnight on the island – glamping between forest and sea

You will stay in high-quality, lovingly designed glamping tents nestled in the forest and rocks or in our tiny cabin. Both the tents and the cabin combine comfort with nature: real beds, warmth, peace and quiet – and the feeling of being outdoors. Designer bed linen and towels, firewood and a tent stove are also provided. A sustainable eco-dry toilet and the shared forest bathroom are always in close proximity to the accommodation.

At night you hear the wind and the voices of the animals, in the morning you are awakened by light, woodpeckers, cranes and the scent of the forest.

Your place in the archipelago awaits

Whether for a weekend or several nights, your stay begins with a conscious decision:
to give yourself time.

What to pack for a glamping stay at Kalliokumpu Eco Lodge:

Yay! Are you almost on your way to us and the last thing you have to do is pack up for your "hideaway"? We want to make your glamping stay as easy as possible.

Each glamping accommodation has almost everything you could need: fully made beds and towels, wood stove heating, cups, plates, cutlery, soap & shampoo, coffee and tea making facilities. In the Woodcuisine, the lodge offers you additional things such as: charcoal grill and gas stove, pans, pots, cooking and kitchen utensils (knives, sieves, spatulas...), spices (salt, pepper, sugar, paprika, oil ect.), matches , bottle opener, washing-up liquid, tea towels, chopping boards.

What you should bring with you:

Bon appetit - being outside makes you hungry. And good food contributes to well-being.

Your Journal - A stay at the lodge gives you the opportunity to relax and reflect. He often makes you think outside the box. Nature is a proven way to boost your creativity. So be sure to pack paper and pencil. Or try to capture the beautiful landscape with a pen or a few words. Here's your chance!

Dress appropriately for the Weather - Out here by the sea, the weather can change quickly. Kustavi is known as the sunniest area in Finland (which we can confirm), but a rain jacket and sun hat, as well as a (fleece) sweater and layers against low temperatures at night (recommended in May, August & September) are recommended . In addition, sturdy shoes for forest and rock tours as well as easy to put on slippers (e.g. crocks, garden shoes) for short distances out of the tent. For a visit to the sauna or swimming in the sea or lake, a bathing suit or swimming trunks should not be missing.

That one book - you know, the book that might be on your bedside table. From which you read the first two chapters, but never further. Now is the time. Your stay at Kalliokumpu Island Lodge is the perfect place to get comfortable and read without the distractions of everyday life.

Your Camera - We don't recommend spending all your time in front of one of your devices, but there is something magical about the scenery around Kalliokumpu Island Lodge. It's really something special when you can capture just a small part of it and take it home with you. When you're feeling stressed at home, having a snapshot or nice shot hanging up can give you a sense of calm. And if you like stargazing, try photographing the night sky. This even works with most smartphones :-)

Other equipment - water bottle; washcloth; ear plugs against the wind in case there is a storm and it bothers you; biodegradable soap and cosmetics with minimal fragrance (very important if you want to spot wildlife); Flashlight or headlamp.

What you should not bring with you:

Alcohol; hair dryers; High heels.
